How do we rate a burger?
The hardest part about rating burgers is figuring out what metric to use. Sure, it’s easy to tell when a burger is good and when a burger is not good, but what’s the best way to differentiate between two otherwise excellent burgers?
Here’s how they are going to break these burgers down.
Overall Appearance
Of course, looks matter! If it doesn’t look appealing, you won’t want to put it in your mouth.
Bun
The bun is the handle. It’s the wrapping that brings the whole thing together. Without a good bun, a burger is just some chop meat.
Meat
Oh the actual burger is arguably the most important part of a burger. This category covers flavor, texture, thickness, juiciness, and done-ness. We typically order our burgers medium. So, we will judge the burgers on how we order them. You’re going to have to trust us!
Cheese
While this is a straightforward category! Every burger needs its cheese. But it has to be melted to perfection.
Vegetables:
This covers lettuce, tomato, pickle, and anything else that might be used to dress up the burger in question.
Sauces:
Ketchup, mustard, aoli, peanut butter, special sauce. I’m even going to put butter in this category if there’s enough butter to qualify as a sauce.
Messiness:
A good burger is messy. How hard is it to get the burger in your mouth?
Burgerness:
This separates great burgers from excellent burgers. It can’t be defined, it has to be felt, savored!
